Safeguarding God’s Children
In a world where children are often at-risk of being hurt and manipulated, we want church to be a safe place. A crucial part of nurturing young people to love and know God is creating an environment of security. We take seriously our mission to teach children and want to let parents know we will do everything we can to provide a safe environment for their children.
“Safeguarding God’s Children” is an in-depth educational and training program for preventing and responding to child sexual abuse in everyday life and in ministry. We require all our children and youth workers to attend this training and undergo a screening process which includes a criminal background check.
Procedures for Nursery & Toddlers
God made kids!… And we want to provide a safe and caring environment where kids, even from birth through 36 months, can learn about God, and parents can be assured of their safety. We ask that, upon initial visit, information cards be filled out for every child (which includes notification of allergies). Every time the child is brought to the nursery or toddler room, we ask that a parent/guardian sign them in and keep a notification pager with them while away from the child. We also request that every child be picked up by the same parent/guardian who dropped them off. These are simple but important steps to help ensure the safety of our children.
Our paid staff member, Kim Clark, directs all of our volunteers and develops the curricular focus for teaching the children. There’s also the occasional diaper duty or toy cleaning that needs done, too!
We don’t yet have it posted, but soon you’ll find our policies and procedures manual available here for download. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email Kim Clark, our Children’s Minister.
